Glazed Crackle Vase with Underglaze Blue and Red Landscape Design, Flared Rim & Compressed Body
Lot Description
This vase features a flared rim, narrow neck, flattened globular body, and a ring foot, exuding elegance and stability. The entire surface is glazed in Ge-style celadon with natural fine crackling, giving the glaze a warm, antique finish. A continuous landscape scene painted in underglaze blue and red depicts layered green peaks, gnarled pine trees, pavilions and towers nestled among the mountains, and scholars enjoying the scenery by the stream. The underglaze blue lines are bold and vigorous, while the underglaze red accents highlight maple forests; the interplay of red and blue creates a serene and distant atmosphere. The rim is trimmed with brown, and the base center bears a seal mark inscribed in seal script reading "Guan" (Imperial). Combining the ancient charm of Ge ware crackling with the painting techniques of underglaze blue and red, this piece features a well-balanced landscape composition. It is an exquisite choice for display in a hall or as a refined ornament in a scholarly study.
